Recently been reading up about photography a little. They might say it’s not hereditary, but guess I inherited the ‘eye’ from my dad. Only problem is I don’t have a decent enough camera to get good (or at least pseudo-intellectual) snaps, and boy, it does pain to see people shooting randomly (or not shooting at all) with their PowerShots or D90-s.

Anyway, here are some photos from the rock concerts held as part of our fest this year (www.integration.net.in). Some say it’s one of the most difficult types of photography, because of crowd and changing lights and constant movements and all that, but I think I enjoy it. There are some basic mantras for shooting a concert (all book stuff), though you might not follow them strictly:

  • Get as close as possible, and change your positions if you can afford it amid the crowd to get the feel of the show and different perspectives.
  • In case the lights are low or you’re not sure how the change, shift to black-and-white. This way more often than not your shots end up artistic as well!
  • Crank up your ISO speed. Use the highest possible setting, because you don’t really want crisp but dark frames!
  • It’s a little problem to compose your frame. So get the feel of the show, anticipate the movements of the performers and above all, click a lot and always be ready to snap!!

So, here go some of the pics…
